Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Physician Assistant or Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our Cardiac Surgery Stepdown unit. This role involves managing patient care in a specialized post-operative environment, primarily focusing on patient stabilization and recovery following cardiac procedures. The position is scheduled for Friday through Sunday, with 12-hour shifts, starting as soon as possible. The successful candidate will play a vital role in overseeing patient consults, managing the stepdown unit, and supporting ECMO cases. Comprehensive training will be provided for procedures such as pulling chest tubes and pacing wires, with no operative responsibilities required. Responsibilities Manage patient care within the cardiac surgery stepdown unit, ensuring optimal recovery and stabilization. Handle patient consults efficiently, providing expert assessment and intervention as needed. Assist with cannulating and shipping ECMO cases, ensuring adherence to protocols and safety standards. Support the team by pulling chest tubes and pacing wires; training for these procedures will be provided. Collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate patient care plans. Monitor patient vital signs and clinical status regularly, documenting findings accurately. Respond promptly to patient needs and emergent situations within the scope of practice. Requirements Valid Physician Assistant certification or licensure; equivalent credentials for Acute Care Nurse Practitioners are also acceptable. Experience or training in cardiac surgery or critical care settings is preferred but not mandatory; comprehensive training will be provided. Ability to work scheduled 12-hour shifts on Friday through Sunday, including weekends. Strong clinical assessment skills with attention to detail in patient monitoring and documentation. Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team. Willingness to learn procedures such as chest tube removal and pacing wire management; prior experience is not required but advantageous. Pay:

$56,000.00 - $76,000.00 per year
