Job Description
Summary The Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant provides specialty and preventive cardiac health care services to an adult population. In collaboration with the attending physician, provides all aspects of acute care including patient admissions, consults, follow-up care and discharges. Coordinates specialty care and discharge management for acute care patients. Provides care to same population in the office setting as well.
Education For Nurse Practitioners:
Completion of Master's degree in Advanced Practice Nursing or 4 years of formal training or education beyond high school (e.g. Bachelor's Degree).For Physician Assistants:
Completion of an accredited Physicians Assistant Certification Program is required. Certification, Registration & Licensure Certification required: ACLS.Licensure required:
Advanced Practice Registered Nurse:
New Hampshire license as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse and DEA license.Physician Assistant:
New Hampshire license as Physician Assistant. DEA license for both APRN and PAs Experience At least one year of cardiology provider experience. Responsibilities Obtains patient health history and performs physical examination. Orders and interprets diagnostic tests. Diagnoses acute and chronic medical problems. Prescribes and manages medications. Provides preventive care, secondary prevention and patient education according to practice standard. Meets productivity standard of the practice/department. Documents care provided in the medical record. Performs, interprets and makes appropriate changes to cardiac devices. (Pacemakers, ICD's, Loop recorders) Safely performs and interprets stress tests, communicates findings and makes appropriate follow-up. Maintains professional development.
