Part Time/Per Diem Job Summary:
The Hospitalist Medicine APP will deliver primary health care in the Inpatient setting to include, but not limited to, the recognition and management of common illnesses and injuries, and the provisioning of care across the health care continuum with emphasis on early detection, treatment, and prevention of diseases.
Role Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated Night Shift Hospitalist APP to manage overnight clinical workflows from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM at our Rahway location. Working alongside an in-house Physician, responsibilities include evaluating and admitting patients from the Emergency Department, responding to nursing concerns, and managing acute clinical issues that arise overnight. The role independently handles up to 9 admissions per shift.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate is a reliable clinician with a reasonable commute to Rahway and flexible availability for night shifts. We are looking for someone currently in an admitting Hospitalist role or a recent graduate with strong, recent inpatient experience. Previous experience with EPIC is highly preferred. Candidates must be comfortable working independently to manage the shift's admissions and acute patient needs.
Essential Functions:
Obtains and records patient history Performs physical and medical screening examinations Orders & interprets diagnostic and therapeutic studies Orders diagnostic laboratory tests, radiological studies or other therapies as appropriate Establishes diagnostic decision-making and initiates a treatment plan, which may include ordering medications, additional therapeutic modalities, etc. Coordinates patient care with other members of the health care team. Initiates consultation requests to other health professionals to provide more comprehensive patient management. Instructs and counsels patients regarding mental and physical health, referring patients to appropriate specialists/resources. Completes charting in a thorough and timely manner Adequately manages patient flow in the inpatient unit with emphasis on length of stay optimization Performs procedures as allowed by state law and under the direction of the supervising or collaborating physician Works within legal, regulatory, and ethical practice standards Actively participates in Department staff meetings and risk management education Completes required courses, i.e. HIPAA, EMTALA and other

Master's Degree in Physician Assistant Studies is required Physician Assistant Certification is required Registration & Licensure by the New Jersey State Board of Medical Examiners, Physician Assistant Advisory required Basic Life Support and Advanced Life Support Certifications New Jersey CDS and DEA Licensure If a
Nurse Practitioner:
Masters Degree in Nursing from Accredited Program Registered Advanced Practice Nurse License from NJ State Board of Nursing Licensed Registered Nurse in state of New Jersey Prior work experience as a professional nurse Basic life support and advanced life support certifications
NJ CDS and DEA Licensure Job Scheduling Requirements:
Willingness to accommodate scheduling needs including working extended hours, overnights, weekends, and holidays
