Emergency Diagnostic Solutions (EDS) is seeking a licensed Physician Assistant to provide on-call medical services for patients at the Rio Grande State Center, a psychiatric hospital in Harlingen, under the supervision of the facility Medical Director. This is a rotation-based, after-hours role — a strong fit for a PA seeking supplemental shifts alongside an existing position.

Rio Grande State Center (RGSC), 1401 S Rangerville Rd, Harlingen, TX 78552

Schedule:

On-call coverage rotating Sunday-Saturday, 5 p.m.-8 a.m. (holiday coverage 8 a.m.-8 a.m.). Must respond to service calls within one hour of request. Most on-call time is standby from home; you go on-site only when a patient needs to be seen in person. Scope of services — the Physician Assistant will: Provide direct patient medical services on an on-call basis as assigned by the Medical Director Respond to emergency calls from the Mental Health Unit (MH) and Outpatient Clinic (OPC) Perform accurate medical histories and physical examinations with appropriate assessment and diagnostic evaluation; write admitting orders and initiate treatment for acute medical problems within 24 hours of admission Provide face-to-face evaluations of MH patients as requested by nursing staff or as indicated by hospital policy Perform a face-to-face evaluation of any patient placed in restraint or seclusion within one hour, documented per policy Complete all electronic health record documentation and maintain a disease management plan Provide culturally sensitive care per the RGSC credentialing/privileging process, Medical Staff Bylaws, and facility policies On rare occasions, evaluate an injured employee at the request of the

Employee Health Coordinator Qualifications:

3+ years of experience as a Physician Assistant Active, unrestricted Texas Medical Board (PA) license , DEA registration , and all required CME Must live within one hour of Harlingen and be reliably reachable while on call Must provide 3 professional references

Pay:

$100.00 - $120.00 per hour
