Houston Methodist seeks a Physician Assistant - Surgery for our Cypress location. This role provides advanced practice care to surgical patients across the perioperative continuum, including pre-op assessment, intraoperative assistance, and post-op management. Responsibilities include conducting histories and physicals, ordering and interpreting tests, first-assisting in surgery, managing inpatient rounds, and coordinating discharge plans. Collaborating with surgeons, nurses, and allied staff, the PA supports quality, safety, patient education, and contributes to innovation, research, and continuous learning. Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive pre- and post-operative assessments, including histories and physicals First-assist in surgical procedures under the supervision of attending surgeons Order, interpret, and act on diagnostic tests and imaging Manage daily inpatient rounds, progress notes, and care coordination Perform wound care, suturing, drain management, and other bedside procedures Develop and implement post-operative care and discharge plans Educate patients and families on procedures, recovery, and self-care Collaborate with surgeons, nurses, and allied health staff to optimize outcomes Document all care in the electronic medical record accurately and timely Support quality, safety, and research initiatives within the surgical service line Required Skills Surgical first assist Pre- and post-operative patient management History and physical examination Ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests Wound care and suturing Inpatient rounding and discharge planning Electronic medical record documentation Perioperative care protocols Pain management Interdisciplinary team collaboration
