Job Description

Make a meaningful impact in your community at Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital (NVRH), where your clinical expertise supports timely, high-quality care in a growing, community-focused Emergency Department. About This Role As an Emergency Department Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) at NVRH, you will deliver comprehensive care to patients of all ages presenting with acute and chronic conditions. With an annual volume of approximately 15,000 visits, our Emergency Department offers a dynamic and engaging clinical environment where you can practice at the top of your license while building strong relationships with patients and the care team. NVRH is currently investing in the future of emergency care through our West Wing Expansion Project, the largest facility upgrade since the hospital opened. This project will expand and modernize the Emergency Department, increasing treatment capacity and enhancing patient and provider workflows, creating an even stronger environment for high-quality care. Key Responsibilities Evaluate, diagnose, and manage acute and chronic medical conditions, including performing assessments, ordering diagnostics, and delivering evidence-based treatment Perform EMTALA screening exams and provide care across all age groups in accordance with emergency department standards Order and interpret laboratory tests, imaging, and other diagnostics to support clinical decision-making Collaborate with physicians, nurses, and specialists to ensure coordinated, high-quality patient care and appropriate referrals Required Qualifications Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant program Eligible for or currently licensed to practice in the State of Vermont, with prescriptive authority (NP or PA) National certification required (AANP, ANCC, or NCCPA as applicable) One year of clinical experience required; emergency or urgent care experience preferred About NVRH Northeastern Vermont Regional Hospital is located in St. Johnsbury, Vermont, in the Northeast Kingdom.
