Range ($226,098.80 - $344,033.52 Annually). Salary will be commensurate with experience. Limitations apply to current State employees.BENEFITS 13

Graduation from an accredited school of medicine and successful completion of a residency program in psychiatry as approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology and recognized by the American Medical Association or the American Osteopathic Association. Must be board-eligible in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology.SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must be eligible for or possess a license as issued by the Alabama State Board of Medical ExaminersKIND OF WORK
Obtains psychiatric assessment upon admission, including traumatic events, childhood info., alcohol & drug issues and other assessments. Develops individualized treatment plans with clear goals and objectives and incorporation of evidence‑based practices. Selects appropriate medication based on diagnosis, monitors for side effects and makes adjustments as needed. Documents completely with clarity and accurate recording of patient presentations, diagnosis, treatment plans, and progress notes. Monitors lab information, including therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM), metabolic side effects, and neuroleptic malignant syndrome (NMS). Obtains consent from all patients for medications, procedures, and assessment of their capacity to manage daily activities, including financial responsibilities. Communicates clearly and concisely with patients, families, and other healthcare providers. Provides timely and accurate information to support safe, coordinated careREQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Knowledge of mental conditions such as psychoses and behavioral disorders. Knowledge of pharmacology and psychopharmacology, including the use and effects of antipsychotics and other psychotropic medications. Knowledge of treatment strategies. Knowledge of psychological principles and their application in developing and implementing effective treatment plans Applicants will be rated based on an evaluation of their job-related training, abilities, experience, and education, and should provide adequate work history identifying experiences related to the duties and minimum qualifications as mentioned above.
