Job Description

Seeking a locum fellowship-trained orthopedic trauma surgeon to provide coverage in Mesa, AZ for a physician‑led, hospital‑based trauma program. The role supports a high‑acuity trauma center and a staffed orthopedic trauma team with strong clinical infrastructure.
Assignment details Shift pattern:
24‑hour shifts, approximately 183 shifts/year (flexible scheduling available) Blocked scheduling with 7‑day stretches and built‑in recovery between rotations Clinical mix: operating room, inpatient care, and follow‑up clinic
Team:
work alongside an additional orthopedic trauma surgeon within a dedicated orthopedic trauma and acute care surgery coverage model High‑volume trauma call coverage Clinical responsibilities Provide operative and non‑operative management of orthopedic trauma patients Manage complex fractures, including pelvic and acetabular injuries Participate in trauma call at a high‑acuity center Coordinate care with trauma surgery, ICU, and emergency medicine teams Balance surgical cases with inpatient management and outpatient follow‑up Maintain accurate, timely documentation Requirements Board Certified or Board Eligible in Orthopedic Surgery Completion of an Orthopedic Trauma Fellowship Experience in high‑acuity trauma care required Strong expertise in pelvic and acetabular fracture management preferred Active Arizona medical license or willingness to obtain Compensation & benefits Above‑market hourly rate Group arranges and pays for travel; travel booked by the group in addition to per‑shift pay Malpractice and tail insurance covered Personal locum consultant to assist with credentialing and scheduling
