DUTIES AND REQUIREMENTS
Position Overview :
In this role, you will provide comprehensive medical care and medical care for residents within the detention facility while ensuring healthcare services are delivered in accordance with government detention standards, clinical protocols, and applicable healthcare regulations. You will evaluate, diagnose, and treat a wide range of acute and chronic medical conditions while working collaboratively with nurses, advanced practice providers, behavioral health personnel, and facility leadership to support resident health and wellness. This position requires strong clinical expertise, sound medical judgment, professionalism, and the ability to provide effective healthcare services within a secure detention environment while maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality. Responsibilities :
Conduct medical evaluations, physical examinations, diagnostic reviews, and healthcare assessments for residents presenting with acute illnesses, chronic conditions, injuries, or medical concerns. Diagnose and treat a wide range of medical conditions while developing individualized treatment plans and monitoring resident healthcare progress. Prescribe medications, order laboratory testing, diagnostic imaging, specialty consultations, and follow-up treatment services as clinically appropriate. Respond to medical emergencies, urgent healthcare situations, infectious disease concerns, and resident wellness incidents requiring physician-level evaluation and intervention. Review medical histories, laboratory results, imaging reports, medication records, and clinical documentation to support accurate diagnosis and treatment decisions. Coordinate healthcare services with nurses, advanced practice providers, behavioral health personnel, pharmacy staff, outside specialists, and detention personnel to ensure continuity of care. Supervise and provide clinical guidance to nursing staff, medical assistants, healthcare support personnel, and other clinical team members as required. Maintain accurate medical records, treatment documentation, clinical notes, prescription information, and operational healthcare reports in compliance with HIPAA and facility standards. Participate in intake screenings, chronic care management activities, infectious disease monitoring, healthcare planning, and medical clearance procedures for residents. Ensure compliance with government detention standards, healthcare regulations, infection prevention procedures, clinical protocols, and facility operational policies. Support audits, inspections, accreditation reviews, mortality reviews, quality improvement initiatives, and compliance assessments related to healthcare services and medical operations. Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, strong clinical judgment, and effective communication while supporting safe and efficient healthcare operations within the detention facility. Qualifications :
Must possess a Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine from a university in the United States, any of its' territories or from a foreign medical school that provides education and medical knowledge equivalent to accredited schools in the United States as established by the National Committee on Foreign Medical Education and Accreditation and permanent certification by the Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates. Must possess a minimum of six (6) years post residency experience providing direct patient care as a board-certified / eligible physician in Internal Medicine, Family Medicine, Preventive Health or Pediatrics. Must maintain current, full, and unrestricted license to practice medicine for the entirety of the employment term in the state of Arizona. Must possess an Active Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) registration for controlled substances. Must maintain a CPR/BLS certification. Must be able to provide proof of citizenship or legal US work authorization. If prior active-duty military, must provide copies of DD214(s) showing discharge condition. Must consent to fingerprinting. Must be at least 21 years of age. Must possess a high school diploma or equivalent Clean criminal record and ability to pass a comprehensive background check and security screening. Ability to pass a preemployment medical assessment and drug screening. Excellent communication, observation, and report-writing skills. Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure and in high-stress situations. Ability to work flexible shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Work Environment :
Employees may be exposed to extreme cold or hot weather conditions, fumes, or airborne particles, toxic or caustic chemicals, and loud noise. Physical Requirements :
Employees may be required to remain in a stationary position, stand, push, pull, climb, kneel, crawl, balance, squat, bend, and reach. Employees may be also required to use gear to move items around, including, but not limited to, carts and dollies. Employees may also be occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 49 pounds.
