Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Detox Doctor as a back up for our Medical Director to coordinate comprehensive detoxification for patients seeking recovery from substance dependence, medication overuse, or toxin exposure. This vital role involves assessing patient needs, developing personalized treatment plans, and overseeing detox procedures to ensure safe and effective withdrawal management. The ideal candidate will possess extensive clinical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for guiding patients through transformative recovery journeys. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments utilizing medical history review, physical examinations, and diagnostic evaluations to determine detoxification needs. Develop individualized detox plans incorporating medication management, monitoring protocols, and supportive therapies aligned with best practices and clinical guidelines. Oversee the administration of medications such as buprenorphine, methadone, or other agents used in detox protocols while ensuring adherence to safety standards. Monitor patients continuously during detox processes, adjusting treatment plans as necessary to manage withdrawal symptoms and prevent complications. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including psychiatrists, nurses, social workers, and specialists in fields such as cardiology, endocrinology, or pulmonology to optimize patient outcomes. Maintain accurate documentation within Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems like Epic or other EMR platforms, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations. Provide patient education on recovery strategies, relapse prevention, and ongoing care options post-detoxification. Shift would be two hours a day both on Mondays and Thursdays. Qualifications Medical degree (MD or DO) with active medical license in the practicing state. Proven experience in addiction medicine, emergency medicine, or inpatient detox settings with familiarity in acute care management. Strong knowledge of pharmacology related to detox medications and withdrawal management techniques. Proficiency with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems such as Epic or similar platforms; experience with medical imaging is a plus. Excellent clinical judgment combined with compassionate communication skills tailored for diverse patient populations. Ability to handle complex cases involving comorbidities such as psychiatric disorders or chronic illnesses like diabetes or cardiovascular disease. Certifications in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), or equivalent are required; additional certifications in addiction counseling or pain management are advantageous.
