Nephrology APP - Part Time/Wednesdays and Fridays i4 Search Group - 4.9 San Mateo, CA Job Details Part-time $75 - $85 an hour 1 hour ago Qualifications Dialysis Patient assessment Medical coding Case management Clinical documentation Care plans Full Job Description Overview We are seeking a dynamic and compassionate Nephrology Advanced Practice Provider (APP) to join our dedicated healthcare team on a part-time basis, primarily working Wednesdays and Fridays. This role offers an exciting opportunity to deliver expert nephrology care, support patients with chronic kidney disease, dialysis, and related conditions, and collaborate closely with physicians and multidisciplinary teams. The ideal candidate will bring a proactive approach to patient management, possess strong clinical skills, and demonstrate enthusiasm for improving patient outcomes through innovative care practices. This position is fully compensated and plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for individuals with kidney-related health issues. Duties Conduct comprehensive patient assessments including vital signs, medical history review, and physical examinations focused on nephrology-related conditions. Assist in the management of dialysis patients, including preparation, monitoring, and post-procedure care utilizing expertise in catheter care and IV infusion techniques. Support physicians with procedures such as ultrasound-guided vascular access, spinal taps, and other diagnostic evaluations using sonography and sterile techniques. Administer medications, injections, and perform venipuncture or phlebotomy as needed while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy. Coordinate patient care plans by participating in discharge planning, case management, and utilization review processes to optimize treatment outcomes. Utilize EMR systems such as Epic or eClinicalWorks for accurate medical documentation, order entry, and patient record management. Provide triage services by assessing urgent symptoms related to acute pain management or infectious disease care and directing appropriate next steps or referrals. Qualifications Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) with certification in nephrology or relevant specialty areas. Demonstrated experience working with dialysis patients or in a nephrology clinic setting. Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic, Cerner, or Athenahealth; telehealth experience is a plus. Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, diagnostic evaluation techniques including sonography and laboratory specimen processing. Experience in hospital medicine or acute care environments such as ICU or Level I Trauma Centers preferred. Ability to perform sterile procedures including catheterization and suturing; familiarity with CPT coding for billing purposes is advantageous. Excellent patient care skills with a focus on patient assessment, medication administration, and medical documentation compliance. Knowledge of Workers' Compensation law, hospice & palliative medicine principles, geriatrics, behavioral health considerations, and working with individuals with disabilities enhances your candidacy.
