• The position of OB/GYN Nocturnist entails delivering comprehensive inpatient obstetric care during nocturnal hours.

Responsibilities include:

• Inpatient Management:
• Oversee labor management, deliveries, postpartum care, and triage for obstetric patients.
• Gynecologic Consults:
• Address acute gynecologic issues during nocturnist shifts.
• Emergency Interventions:
• Conduct urgent assessments and interventions for both obstetric and gynecologic patients.
• Collaboration:
• Work synergistically within a collegial team comprising 8 OB/GYN physicians and 4 advanced practice providers (APPs).
• Complex Case Support:
• Provide backup coverage and collaborate with multispecialty teams for complex case management.
• Continuity of Care:
• Facilitate effective communication with daytime teams to ensure smooth patient handoffs and continuity.
• Documentation:
• Utilize the fully integrated Epic EMR system to document all patient interactions, procedures, and consultations.
• Quality Improvement:
• Engage in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to safety protocols within the obstetric unit.
• Flexible Scheduling:
• Maintain a work-life balance with a flexible schedule comprising 6-12 nocturnist shifts per month.
• Patient-Centered Care:
• Actively contribute to a culture prioritizing high-quality, patient-centered care.
• Crisis Management:
• Skillfully handle emergency obstetric situations, including prompt interventions for maternal or fetal complications.
• Training:
• Mentor residents or APPs as applicable during shifts.
• Committee Involvement:
• Participate in hospital committee work or contribute to overnight process improvements as necessary.
• Shift Description:
• Nocturnist shifts from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m.
• Qualifications:
• Board Certification:
• Must be board certified in OB/GYN
• no exceptions.
• Licensure:
• Colorado medical license (or willingness to obtain)
• required.
• Malpractice History:
• Clean malpractice record is highly preferred.
• NPDB Report:
• Submission of the most recent NPDB Self Query Report (within 30 days) is mandatory at presentation
• no exemption.
• DEA Certification:
• Must obtain DEA prior to commencement of employment
• no exemptions.
• Certification Requirements:
• Board Certified in OB/GYN.
• License Requirements:
• Must possess or be willing to obtain a Colorado medical license.
