Job Description

We are recruiting for a motivated Pediatric Emergency Medicine Physician to join our team! We are here for life's journey. Where is your life journey taking you? Department Pediatric Emergency Physicians The Department of Emergency Medicine at Denver Health is recruiting a Pediatric Emergency Medicine (PEM) physician to join our team. The Pediatric Emergency Department and Urgent Care (PEDUC) is an American College of Surgeons-verified level 2 pediatric trauma center and Federally Qualified Health Center with an annual census of 30,000 patients, 19 beds including 2 resuscitation bays, and a separate ambulance bay and waiting room from the adjacent 57-bed adult ED. The PEDUC is staffed by board-certified emergency physicians, PEM physicians, and pediatricians, along with advanced practice providers, pediatric psychologists, specialized pediatric nurses, emergency department technicians, ED pharmacists and child life specialists. Attending physicians supervise emergency medicine, pediatrics, and family medicine residents, as well as medical students, while caring for acutely ill and injured children. Denver Health is a nationally recognized, integrated health care system that includes a large safety-net acute care hospital; a renowned Level 1 trauma center; an extensive network of community and school-based health centers; the Public Health Institute at Denver Health; the city's sole advanced life support emergency medical services (EMS) agency, Denver Paramedics; and the Rocky Mountain Poison and Drug Center. Deeply mission-driven, Denver Health has provided billions of dollars in care for uninsured and under-insured patients since its founding, reflecting its enduring commitment to serving all patients regardless of ability to pay. More than half of babies born in Denver County are delivered at Denver Health. Inpatient pediatric services include a Level III neonatal intensive care unit, pediatric ward, pediatric intensive care unit, an adolescent psychiatric unit, in addition to subspecialty support including pediatric neurology, pediatric surgery, pediatric anesthesia, pediatric neurosurgery, pediatric otolaryngology, pediatric radiology, child abuse pediatrics, and pediatric dentistry. Trauma surgery, orthopedics, oral maxillofacial surgery, interventional radiology, plastic surgery, and ophthalmology provide care for patients of all ages. The PEDUC maintains strong, collaborative relationships across the institution, bridging inpatient, outpatient, primary, specialty, and behavioral health care. The Department of Emergency Medicine at Denver Health sponsors the Denver Health Residency in Emergency Medicine, one of the oldest and most highly regarded emergency medicine training programs in the country, as well as fellowships in EMS, ultrasound, toxicology, and research. This position will join 5 PEM physicians, 12 pediatricians, and 32 emergency medicine faculty to serve as a core member of the Department of Emergency Medicine. All faculty contribute to the department's four academic pillars of clinical excellence, education, scholarship, and professional development, and have faculty appointments at the University of Colorado School of Medicine. We are seeking an education-focused PEM physician to lead and advance our mission to prepare emergency physicians to take exceptional care of acutely ill and injured children across diverse practice settings. Candidates with experience in curriculum design, simulation, mentorship, and educational innovation and scholarship are strongly encouraged to apply.
Compensation:

MD-Physician - State Medical Board Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Knowledge of and ability to apply professional medical principles, procedures and techniques.
