Ophthalmology - Surgical Counselor Tyson Eye - 4.6 Cape Coral, FL Job Details Full-time 9 hours ago Qualifications Phone communication Company vehicle operation High school diploma or GED Driver's License Typing Client interaction via phone calls Full Job Description We are currently seeking an individual to join our surgical team as a Surgical Counselor-Full Time. This role works closely with the surgeon and assists the patient with all aspects of pre-operative preparations in order to promote confidence in their medical care thereby making the surgical experience as smooth as possible. This position may be based out of the Cape Coral Office with regular travel to our other locations in North Fort Myers, East Fort Myers, South Fort Myers and Naples. Ability to travel to various offices is required. Interested candidates are encouraged to complete the Predictive Index Assessment at this link https://assessment.predictiveindex.com/bo/rv8/SurgicalCounselor_Jan2026_13226 Job responsibilities may include but are not limited to: To be an effective liaison between the patient's insurance, surgeons, co-managing doctor, and primary care physician in all aspects of pre-operative preparations. Oversees all aspects of scheduling of surgical cases. Maintaining patient and facility confidentiality. Obtain information form patient such as demographic information and insurance coverage. Counsels the patient with estimated cost of surgical procedure. Educate the patient regarding lenses as applicable per surgeon's suggestions. Checks patient in the day of surgery. Comprehends and implements all aspects of surgical billing. Clerical tasks. Ability to drive/travel to all practice locations is required for this position Skills necessary to be successful in this role: Excellent verbal, written communication and telephone skills Must be organized, reliable, dependable and with excellent attention to detail Must have the utmost concern for deadlines with excellent follow-up skills Exceptional producer, efficient and effective with a desire to generate maximum output Excellent keyboarding and computer skills are required. Bilingual preferred Must hold valid driver's license and car insurance to be qualified to drive the company vehicles and permitted to travel on company time Education and Job Experience Preferred High school diploma or equivalent required, some college preferred. College degree, in the process of achieving a degree, or equivalent work experience. Ophthalmology or Optical experience preferred. Experience in a medical environment and knowledge of medical office and surgical scheduling requirements. Knowledge of internal control practices and procedures including processing of insurance benefits.
