Setting:
On-site federal healthcare clinic No nights. No weekends. No on-call. Heart-Centered Health is seeking an experienced Physician (MD or DO) for a flexible part-time primary care opportunity in Marion, Illinois. This position offers approximately $163,200 annually at the anticipated schedule while working only two weekdays per week . It may be an especially good fit for a physician who maintains a private practice, works a reduced schedule elsewhere, performs locum work, or simply wants meaningful clinical work without committing to a traditional five-day workweek. The physician will provide approximately 20 hours of on-site medical care per week, generally concentrated into two weekdays, within the Health Services Department of a federal correctional institution. Why This Opportunity Stands Out $160 per hour 1099 independent-contractor opportunity Approximately $163,200 annually at anticipated hours Approximately 20 hours per week Work concentrated into two weekdays No nights No weekends No scheduled on-call responsibilities Predictable weekday clinical schedule Paid required federal orientation and training Excellent opportunity to supplement an existing practice or clinical schedule Responsibilities The physician will provide general primary and preventive medical services, including: Physical examinations and medical assessments Evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of acute and chronic medical conditions Preventive and primary care Ordering and reviewing appropriate diagnostic testing Prescribing medications within scope of practice Referring patients for specialty care or hospitalization when medically appropriate Maintaining timely and accurate electronic medical documentation Coordinating care with the facility's established Health Services team Providing care consistent with accepted professional and clinical standards Qualifications Applicants must: Hold an MD or DO degree Hold a current, unrestricted Illinois physician license Be legally authorized to practice medicine in Illinois Be comfortable providing medical care within a federal correctional healthcare environment Be able to successfully complete required federal background and security screening Be available approximately two weekdays per week Family Medicine and Internal Medicine physicians are strongly encouraged to apply. Board certification or board eligibility and an active DEA registration are preferred. About the Setting Services are provided on-site within the Health Services Department of a federal correctional institution in Marion, Illinois, serving an adult patient population. The physician works as part of an established healthcare team. This is not a traditional private-practice role: there is no need to build a patient panel, market a practice, or maintain a five-day clinical schedule seeing 20 patients a day.
