Job Description
Overview Join our dynamic Rheumatology Clinic as a Medical Assistant (MA), where your energy and dedication will directly enhance patient care and clinic operations. In this vital role, you will support healthcare providers by managing patient interactions, assisting with clinical procedures, and ensuring smooth clinic flow. Your proactive approach and clinical expertise will contribute to delivering exceptional rheumatologic care in a fast-paced, patient-centered environment. Duties General & Administrative Duties Maintain compliance with organizational policies, procedures, and safety standards Demonstrate professionalism and courteous interpersonal communication Greet patients and visitors in a professional manner Schedule appointments, manage incoming calls, take messages, and return calls Answer nurse phone lines and ensure all calls are returned by the end of the day Complete prior authorizations and medication refill requests (fax/EHR systems) Prepare provider charts for next-day schedules Verify patient demographics and ensure records are current Request and manage medical records Complete forms (FMLA, STD, and other paperwork) as requested by providers Support overall clinic workflow and complete tasks assigned by providers or management Clinical Duties Escort patients to exam rooms and facilitate patient flow Obtain and document vital signs including weight, blood pressure, pulse, and temperature Obtain and record patient medical histories and relevant health data Ensure all labs, reports, and medications are accurately documented in patient records Assist providers with exams, procedures, injections, and ultrasounds Administer medications, including SubQ and IM injections, within scope of practice Communicate provider instructions and education to patients Perform lab-related tasks and communicate lab results to patients as directed (daily) Adhere to infection control and safety guidelines Assist providers in emergency situations Patient Care & Support Maintain patient confidentiality and secure protected health information Provide excellent customer service and maintain a positive patient experience Communicate effectively with patients, providers, and staff regarding delays or care needs Inventory & Clinic Maintenance Stock and sanitize exam rooms Maintain adequate inventory of medical supplies and notify appropriate staff of needs Skills Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, physiology, and basic life support (BLS) certification Familiarity with EHR systems for documentation, scheduling, and coding purposes Ability to perform vital signs measurement and medication administration Excellent patient service skills with a compassionate approach to diverse populations CMA certification preferred but not required This role is ideal for motivated individuals eager to grow their clinical expertise while providing outstanding patient care in a vibrant rheumatology setting.
