Job Description

Alumni Healthcare Staffing seeks a Board-Certified/Board-Eligible Gastroenterologist for an ASAP locum tenens assignment in Louisiana. Provide inpatient and/or outpatient GI care, including consults, endoscopies, and call coverage, supporting hospital teams to ensure timely access to specialty care. Assignments may range from a few weeks to several months, with competitive pay, malpractice coverage, and travel/lodging assistance. Work with a collaborative, service-driven staffing team focused on integrity, responsive support, and long-term relationships while impacting patient care across diverse communities. Responsibilities Provide inpatient and outpatient gastroenterology consultations and follow-up care Perform endoscopic procedures including EGD and colonoscopy Interpret diagnostic tests and imaging related to GI conditions Participate in call coverage as scheduled by the facility Collaborate with hospitalists, surgeons, and primary care teams on treatment plans Document encounters, procedures, and orders in the EMR accurately and timely Ensure compliance with hospital policies, quality, and safety standards Coordinate patient transfers and referrals as needed Communicate clearly with patients and families about diagnoses and treatment options Work with staffing team to manage scheduling, credentialing, and assignment details Required Skills Gastrointestinal disease diagnosis and management Endoscopy (EGD, colonoscopy) ERCP and/or EUS (if required by site) Hospital-based consultative care Sedation and peri-procedural management Electronic Medical Records (EMR) documentation
