As a Nocturnist, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality overnight care for hospitalized patients, managing admissions, responding to acute clinical needs, and collaborating with specialists and multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless continuity of care. This position offers the opportunity to practice independently while being supported by a strong team committed to clinical excellence and patient-centered care. Position Highlights Dedicated nocturnist schedule Established Hospital Medicine Program Strong specialty support across multiple service lines Modern community-based tertiary care hospital Collegial and collaborative physician culture Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package Responsibilities Evaluate, admit, and manage hospitalized patients during overnight hours. Perform comprehensive assessments, develop differential diagnoses, and implement evidence-based treatment plans. Respond to acute changes in patient condition and provide timely medical intervention. Coordinate care with consulting physicians, nursing staff, case management, and ancillary services. Facilitate safe patient transitions and continuity of care with daytime providers. Communicate effectively with patients and families regarding diagnoses, treatment plans, and clinical status. Participate in quality improvement, patient safety, utilization management, and performance improvement initiatives. Maintain accurate and timely clinical documentation. Qualifications Education Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) Licensure Current Louisiana medical license or eligibility for Louisiana licensure DEA certification Preferred Experience Two or more years of Hospital Medicine experience Experience managing complex inpatient medical conditions Strong procedural and acute care management skills preferred Ideal Candidate We are seeking a physician who is: Comfortable making independent clinical decisions in a fast-paced environment Skilled in managing admissions and acute medical issues overnight Committed to evidence-based medicine and high-quality patient care Collaborative and team-oriented An excellent communicator with patients, families, and colleagues Focused on delivering exceptional patient outcomes and experiences Why West Jefferson Medical Center?
