We are seeking a full-time Advanced Practice Provider to join our Gastroenterology department to facilitate quality ambulatory and hospital experiences and outcomes for patients. Reporting to the Chief and Medical Director, you will focus on the outpatient clinic and inpatient consultation needs of the department, acting as an educator, consultant and liaison to healthcare providers caring for GI patients.

Responsibilities:

Obtain and transcribe medical histories and perform physical examinations, recording all patient notes in appropriate medical records system Develop treatment and follow-up plans and coordinate follow-up visits with attending gastroenterologist(s) Initiate patient care management plan with supervising physician(s) and record all patient progress notes Participate in the education of patients, families, and caregivers regarding treatment plans, expected outcomes, and progress results Maintain quality assurance, safety, environmental, and infection control in accordance with established hospital department policies, procedures, and objectives Perform other duties as requested by the supervising physician(s) in support of high-quality GI care

Qualifications:

Graduate from a Nurse Practitioner program with MS degree required Successful completion of supervised three-month clinical internship or equivalent in a clinically intensive atmosphere (Gastroenterology ideal) required; experience in a healthcare environment such as acute care hospital, physicians' office, and ancillary healthcare enterprises preferred Certified by the American Nurses Association (ANA) or by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners (AANP) to practice in the expanded role; must complete courses for the American Heart Association BLS and ACLS certifications Must have patient care services, procedures, and privileges approved by the sponsoring physician; license must include prescriptive privileges Working at Brown University Health As of October 15, 2024, Lifespan is now Brown University Health.
