Now Searching for Qualified Physicians in Northern Michigan! We are seeking a Family Practice Physician (MD/DO) for a full-time outpatient locum tenens assignment at a Tribal Health facility in Michigan. This is an excellent opportunity to provide comprehensive primary care services to an underserved community while working alongside a supportive multidisciplinary healthcare team. Key Responsibilities Conduct comprehensive medical evaluations, physical exams, and patient histories Diagnose and treat acute and chronic illnesses across all age groups Prescribe medications and develop individualized treatment plans Order and interpret laboratory, imaging, and diagnostic studies Manage chronic conditions including diabetes, hypertension, asthma, and other common primary care concerns Provide preventive care services, health screenings, and vaccinations Perform routine office-based procedures as needed Collaborate with nursing staff, behavioral health providers, and specialists Respond appropriately to urgent medical situations and coordinate higher levels of care when necessary Maintain timely, accurate, and compliant medical documentation Assignment Highlights 6-month locum tenens contract with the possibility of extension Monday-Friday schedule 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM Outpatient clinic setting only 13-17 patients per day Bread-and-butter primary care practice Patient population spans all ages (womb to tomb) Focus on chronic disease management and preventive care Supportive multidisciplinary team environment Opportunity to make a meaningful impact within a Tribal Health community 1099 contracted provider position Malpractice insurance provided Travel-related expenses available Clinical Scope Common patient encounters include: Chronic care management Hypertension Diabetes Preventive care visits Routine sick visits General family medicine concerns Adult, pediatric, and geriatric primary care Qualifications MD or DO from an accredited medical school Board Certified in Family Medicine or related primary care specialty Active Michigan medical license or eligibility through IMLC Active DEA registration Ability to prescribe controlled substances Strong clinical, communication, and teamwork skills Experience in rural, Tribal Health, or underserved populations preferred Comfortable practicing in a fast-paced outpatient environment COVID vaccination required Facility & Practice Information Outpatient clinic setting
