Job Description
Overview Join a dynamic outpatient psychiatry practice as a Physician Assistant (PA) dedicated to delivering exceptional mental health care in Wake Forest. This energetic role offers the opportunity to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team, utilizing your clinical expertise to assess, diagnose, and treat patients with diverse psychiatric needs. As an integral part of our outpatient services, you will empower patients on their journey toward mental wellness through comprehensive evaluations and personalized treatment plans. This position emphasizes patient-centered care, professional growth, and the chance to make a meaningful impact in the community. Duties Conduct thorough patient assessments, including intake interviews, vital signs, and mental status examinations to determine psychiatric conditions. Prescribe medications within collaborative practice agreements, adhering to HIPAA and DEA regulations, ensuring safe and effective treatment. Administer injections such as botulinum toxin treatments when indicated for therapeutic purposes. Manage electronic health records (EHR/EHR systems like AdvancedMD), documenting clinical notes, medication plans, and progress reports accurately. Collaborate closely with psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, and other healthcare professionals to develop integrated care plans. Educate patients on medication management, lifestyle modifications, and coping strategies to support ongoing mental health stability. Assist in data collection for clinical research or quality improvement initiatives related to outpatient psychiatric care. Experience Prior outpatient experience in psychiatry or behavioral health is highly preferred; experience with psychiatric medication management is essential. Demonstrated proficiency with EMR/EHR systems; telehealth experience is a plus. Knowledge of CPT coding and ICD-10 coding for billing and documentation purposes. Experience with acute pain management, triage procedures, and urgent care protocols within a psychiatric setting is advantageous. Familiarity with hospital-based practices including inpatient or emergency room experience enhances your ability to manage complex cases effectively. Strong understanding of physiology knowledge related to mental health conditions and pharmacology. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team while maintaining high standards of patient care and confidentiality under HIPAA regulations.
