United Medical Monitoring (https://unitedionm.com/) is offering a paid training program. Upon completion, the new Intraoperative Neuromonitoring (IONM) technologist will independently perform testing and monitoring of the nervous system during surgery, assisting surgeons in avoiding or reducing complications by detecting potential neurological injury early enough to prevent or mitigate it. IONM Surgical Neurophysiologist Trainee Responsibilities (including but are not limited to): Successfully complete the didactic training program Complete the clinical shadowing program Receive final competency approval from the training supervisor Explain procedures to patients and family members in a clear and understandable manner Measure and accurately apply recording electrodes in a timely manner Calibrate, evaluate, and adjust equipment to optimize recording and stimulation parameters and acquire accurate data Implement appropriate troubleshooting methods to ensure accurate recordings Maintain equipment in clean and proper working order and report technical malfunctions to the supervisor Interact with operating room staff, including nurses, surgical and anesthesia teams, and the supervising neurologist to provide the surgeon with interpretive data regarding the patient's neurological status Recognize normal patterns, normal variants, and abnormal patterns, and understand medical and pharmacological/anesthetic factors that influence IONM modalities Accurately document significant events, anesthesia protocols, and stages of surgery in a timely manner Complete all IONM logs, files, and documentation with emphasis on clinical observations to assist the neurologist and/or designated physician with final interpretation Attend courses and seminars for continuing education Perform additional duties as assigned by the supervisor
Bachelor's degree or higher Must hold a valid drivers license and reliable vehicle to travel to hospitals Excellent communication skills and the ability to adapt Ability to sit for extended periods of time while monitoring computer screens Ability to stand, turn and move among multiple types of equipment in an operating room environment Interpersonal communication skills necessary to interact with medical staff, patients, and hospital personnel
