Maternal-Fetal Medicine Physician (Locum Tenens) Newark, New Jersey Inpatient & Consult Coverage | Remote Unrestricted Call | Zero Deliveries Required Are you a Board Certified Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) Physician seeking a high-yield locum tenens opportunity in northern New Jersey? A major regional medical center in Newark is seeking an MFM specialist for ongoing coverage starting September 14 through December 31, 2026, with strong potential to extend into 2027. Offering a focused consultative scope, zero delivery requirements, and offsite remote call, this placement provides excellent work-life balance within a collaborative high-risk obstetrical care environment. The Opportunity Step into an established subspecialty maternal-fetal practice working alongside three attending MFM physicians, an experienced multidisciplinary OB/GYN team, and dedicated Advanced Practice Providers (APPs).
Clinical Scope:
Focus exclusively on inpatient subspecialty consultation and diagnostic management.
Primary duties include:
Evaluating and managing complex high-risk obstetric conditions. Conducting inpatient antepartum and postpartum MFM consultations and daily rounding. Reviewing and interpreting high-risk targeted obstetric ultrasounds. Performing diagnostic amniocentesis procedures. Collaborating with subspecialty care teams and providing clinical oversight to APPs.
Delivery & Floating Obligations:
Zero delivery requirements and no floating outside of assigned units.
Call Requirements:
Rotating unrestricted call 1 out of every 3 weeks . Call is managed completely offsite/remotely with no requirement to remain on facility grounds.
EMR & Privileges:
Integrated Epic EMR platform. Temporary or emergency credentialing privileges are available for rapid placement.
Candidate Requirements Board Status:
Board Certified (BC) in Maternal-Fetal Medicine.
Licensure:
Active, unencumbered New Jersey State Medical License.
Diagnostic & Procedural Competency:
Proficient in high-risk OB ultrasound interpretation and independent amniocentesis execution.
Clinical Readiness:
Full comfort managing inpatient consultations, collaborating within multidisciplinary teams, and handling remote unrestricted call.
EHR & Experience:
Proficiency in Epic EMR and prior locum or travel assignment experience preferred.
