(On days when you are assigned to assist in surgery, the duty hours will be 0700 to 1600).
Clinical Scope:
- Performs as "scrub" assistant to the surgeon in major and minor surgery and procedures of the ear, nose, and throat.
- Occasionally performs as first surgical assistant rendering assistance to the surgeon.
- Performs other such tasks as point of use cleaning for contaminated instruments.
- Responsible for the care, identification, labeling, and delivery of specimens to pathology.
- Checks operating room set-up for arrangement of supplies and instruments, rearranging as necessary.
- Accomplishes routine safety checks and operator preventive maintenance on fixed and moveable medical equipment and fixtures.
- Perform routine and specialized housekeeping activities.
- Prepares and administers routine medications under the supervision of the physician
- Performs as "scrub" assistant to the surgeon in major and minor surgery and procedures of the ear, nose, and throat.
Requirements:
U.S. citizen
Highschool Diploma or GED. Completion of a surgical technologist program recognized and accredited by the Comission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Burea of Health Education Schools/(ABHES)
1 year of experience within the last 36 months as a surgical services technician.
