Job Description

Our busy ophthalmology office is seeking a Surgery Coordinator who will enjoy providing compassionate, informative support to our patients. The Surgery Coordinator is responsible for preparing our patients for life-changing surgical procedures that impact their vision and quality of life. Duties include but are not limited to ensuring patients are well informed, and comfortable with upcoming procedures as well as preparing all necessary medical records and paperwork including insurance verification to get our patients ready for surgery. Pulling and filing records, answering multiple phone lines, data entry into EMR/PM systems, confirming and scheduling appointments. Must be willing to cross train for other positions when we need additional coverage as well as the ability to work independently. Applicant must be able to pass a background/drug test. Our office is currently open Mon-Thurs. Applicant must be able to work at least one early evening a week. Experience in ophthalmology/surgery helpful.
Qualifications:
Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation. Must be highly flexible and able to accommodate changing needs of the office. Ability to multi-task efficiently and effectively. Must be able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with managers and peers. Strong organizational and interpersonal skills. Excellent customer service skills Must be able to obtain authorizations and referrals. Ability to work with Excel, Word, and EMR software. Excellent oral/written communication and analytical skills. Knowledge and adherence to HIPAA. Must have ability to work well under pressure with minimal supervision. Must be able to work independently
