Description This on-site, contract position offers a rewarding opportunity to deliver critical care in a fast-paced medical practice environment, serving patients with acute and urgent medical needs. As a Locum Emergency Medicine physician, you will be responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating a wide range of emergency conditions, from minor injuries to life-threatening illnesses. You will work closely with nursing staff, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless, high-quality patient care. Responsibilities Provide comprehensive emergency medical care to patients presenting with acute illnesses and injuries Perform thorough patient assessments, including physical examinations and medical history reviews Order, interpret, and follow up on diagnostic tests such as lab work, imaging, and ECGs Develop and implement timely treatment plans tailored to each patient's condition Stabilize critically ill or injured patients and coordinate appropriate interventions Collaborate with nurses, specialists, and ancillary staff to ensure coordinated patient care Document all patient encounters accurately and promptly in the electronic medical record Communicate effectively with patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and follow-up care Respond to medical emergencies within the facility and provide on-call coverage as needed Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to patient safety protocols Maintain compliance with all medical, ethical, legal, and regulatory standards Requirements Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) degree from an accredited institution Board certification or board eligibility in Emergency Medicine Active, unrestricted medical license in the relevant state, or the ability to obtain one prior to start Current ACLS, BLS, and PALS certifications Minimum of associate-level experience in emergency medicine or urgent care settings Strong clinical reasoning, diagnostic, and decision-making skills Ability to manage multiple patients simultaneously in a high-acuity environment Excellent written and verbal communication skills Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team Commitment to providing compassionate, evidence-based, patient-centered care Valid DEA registration for prescribing controlled substances Level IV trauma
