Job Description

The Physician - Dermatology Trainee is a licensed physician seeking to develop specialized expertise in medical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology under the supervision of experienced dermatologists. This role is designed to provide structured, hands-on training in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of dermatologic conditions while delivering high-quality patient care. The trainee will progressively build clinical competency, procedural skills, and dermatology-specific knowledge while adhering to all clinical, ethical, and regulatory standards.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Clinical Care & Training Evaluate, diagnose, and treat common dermatologic conditions under physician supervision Perform comprehensive skin examinations, including full-body skin checks Develop treatment plans for conditions such as acne, eczema, psoriasis, skin cancers, and other dermatologic disorders Participate in the management of chronic dermatologic diseases Procedural Training Assist with and progressively perform dermatologic procedures, including: Skin biopsies (shave, punch, excisional) Cryotherapy and lesion destruction Surgical excisions and closures Cosmetic procedures (as appropriate and trained) Maintain proper sterile technique and adherence to infection control standards Documentation & Compliance Accurately document patient encounters in the EMR in a timely manner Ensure all charts are completed, coded, and signed according to practice standards Comply with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable federal and state regulations Follow billing and coding guidelines with supervision and training Patient Experience Deliver compassionate, patient-centered care Educate patients on diagnoses, treatment plans, and preventive skin care Maintain a professional and approachable demeanor with patients and staff Collaboration & Learning Work closely with supervising dermatologists, advanced practice providers, and clinical staff Participate in case discussions, training sessions, and continuing education opportunities Demonstrate a commitment to continuous learning and professional development Accept feedback and incorporate it into clinical practice Requirements Education & Licensure Doctor of Medicine (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO) from an accredited institution Active and unrestricted medical license in the State of Oregon (or eligibility to obtain prior to start date) DEA license (or eligibility to obtain) Experience Completion of an accredited residency program (preferred but not always required depending on training model) Prior exposure to dermatology (clinical rotations, electives, or experience) preferred Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Strong clinical and diagnostic skills Interest in dermatology and procedural medicine Excellent communication and interpersonal skills Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume clinical environment Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality care

Busy dermatology clinic with a mix of medical, surgical, and cosmetic services Close collaboration with providers and clinical teams Exposure to clinical procedures and medical equipment
