ABOUT THE ROLE
Pediatric Hospitalist for growing, well-supported pediatric and newborn care team in community hospital setting. Outpatient + inpatient coverage with balanced schedule (7 on/7 off), manageable scope, strong clinical support, and predictable work-life balance.
SCHEDULE & COVERAGE 7
days on / 7 days off (predictable) 8 hours in-house per day (8:30 AM"4:30 PM) 24/7 service coverage with 16 hours on-call responsibilities Single or dual physician coverage based on census/acuity Dedicated call rooms available (optional onsite stay"no requirement) Calls from nursing staff/ED only"NOT from families
CLINICAL SCOPE
Daily census: 8"23 patients Newborn care: majority well newborns + Level II (1"4, licensed for 6) Rare Level III cases (CPAP, hypoglycemia) Straightforward pediatric admissions: RSV, asthma, gastroenteritis No PICU or complex subspecialty admissions ENT admissions rare
PROCEDURES
Required:
Circumcisions, needle decompression, newborn intubation, catheter placement
Elective:
Frenotomies, simple polydactyly excision
LEVEL II NURSERY
Accepts infants ?32 weeks gestation, ?1500 grams HFNC, short-term
CPAP, IV
fluids, antibiotics, NG feeds Transfers to McLeod Level
III NICU
( 2 hrs ground) or MUSC Level IV ( 45 min helicopter)
SUPPORT & RESOURCES APRN
support 6 days/week (Tues"Sat) Family Medicine residents assist with well-newborn care Part-time hospitalist for high-volume days/call coverage Respiratory Therapy support NRP-trained nurses attend C-sections/high-risk deliveries CRNA coverage 24/7 Nursery, L&D, postpartum, pediatrics all on same floor
TEAM & VOLUME 2
full-time + 1 part-time (0.8 FTE) pediatric hospitalists 2 part-time NPs 1,800"2,000 annual deliveries (growing with Women's Health expansion)

REQUIREMENTS
U.S.-based 3-year pediatric residency completed Board-certified/eligible in Pediatrics Valid SC license (or ability to obtain) Current
BLS/PALS NRP
certification (or willingness to obtain)
PREFERRED
Community hospital experience Straightforward peds/neonatal comfort Newborn procedure interest Prior hospitalist experience
