The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in medical billing and coding, with specific expertise in rheumatology and infusion services. This role involves accurately processing claims, managing patient accounts, and ensuring timely reimbursement while maintaining compliance with industry standards. The successful applicant will contribute to the efficiency of our billing operations and support the financial health of our practice. Duties Review and interpret medical documentation related to rheumatology and infusion procedures to ensure accurate coding and billing. Utilize DRG (Diagnosis-Related Group), CPT (Current Procedural Terminology), ICD-9, and ICD-10 coding systems to prepare claims for submission. Enter data into Electronic Medical Record (EMR) and Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems with precision, maintaining detailed medical records. Follow up on unpaid claims, perform medical collections, and resolve billing discrepancies promptly. Ensure compliance with healthcare regulations, insurance policies, and industry standards during all billing processes. Collaborate with clinical staff to verify coding accuracy and gather necessary documentation for claims processing. Maintain up-to-date knowledge of medical terminology, billing regulations, and coding updates relevant to rheumatology and infusion services. Assist in training new staff members on billing procedures and system usage to promote team efficiency. Skills Proficiency in medical coding including DRG, CPT, ICD-9, ICD-10, and ICD coding systems. Strong understanding of medical terminology, medical records management, and healthcare documentation standards. Experience with medical billing processes, including claim submission, follow-up, and collections. Familiarity with EMR systems and EHR platforms used in outpatient clinics or specialty practices. Knowledge of insurance policies, reimbursement procedures, and compliance requirements within the healthcare industry. Excellent attention to detail with strong organizational skills to manage multiple accounts simultaneously. Effective communication skills for interacting with clinical staff, insurance companies, and patients.
