Locums About the Facility This state hospital operates as a specialized forensic psychiatric facility providing inpatient services for adult patients committed under forensic orders, including the Texas NGRI population. The facility supports a structured multidisciplinary treatment team model and maintains established clinical protocols to ensure continuity of forensic psychiatric care. A locum tenens psychiatrist is sought on an immediate and ongoing basis to meet the clinical needs of the population served. About the Facility Location Kerrville offers a range of outdoor activities, including hiking, horseback riding, kayaking, fishing, and golfing, as well as wine tasting at local vineyards. The area features cultural venues such as the Cailloux Theater, the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center, and the Hill Country Arts Foundation. Clinicians on assignment will find a variety of accommodations and attractions suited to diverse interests throughout the region. About the Clinician's Workday The psychiatrist will provide full-time inpatient psychiatric services (40 hours per week) for adult patients in a forensic state hospital setting, serving the Texas NGRI population on a day shift basis with on-site presence required at a minimum of 25% of the time, with on-campus coverage preferred pending leadership approval. Clinical responsibilities include leading a multidisciplinary team, managing an average caseload of 24 patients seen monthly, and overseeing an average of 1-2 admissions and discharges per month. The psychiatrist will be responsible for physician court documentation and associated testimony, as well as participation in QI projects including quarterly Quality System Overview chart reviews. Additional duties include attendance at medical staff meetings and opportunities for collaboration with staff nurse practitioners.
