Job Description
The Departments of Anesthesiology and Surgery at the University of Virginia (UVA) School of Medicine are seeking applications for a Digital Media Coordinator to support the departments' communications, marketing, and digital engagement efforts. Working under the direction of the Communications Manager, the Digital Media Coordinator will assist with the development, production, and distribution of digital content that supports the departments' strategic communications goals across social media, web, and email platforms. The successful candidate will be expected to: Manage departmental social media by assisting with content planning, creation, scheduling, publishing, and performance tracking across multiple platforms. Develop and publish departmental communications, including lecture announcements, new faculty and staff introductions, event promotions, and other internal and external communications. Design engaging digital and print communications materials, including flyers, booklets, posters, digital displays, presentations, and promotional graphics, in accordance with departmental and University brand standards. Maintain departmental websites by editing and publishing content through the University's content management systems, performing routine quality assurance reviews, and ensuring content remains accurate, accessible, and compliant with institutional standards. Provide photography and basic videography coverage for departmental events, educational activities, and community outreach programs, while organizing and maintaining digital media assets. Collaborate with faculty, staff, trainees, and University partners to support departmental communications initiatives, maintain project calendars, and contribute to the continuous improvement of communications strategies and digital engagement efforts. In addition to the above job responsibilities, other duties may be assigned. Qualified candidates must have a bachelor's degree with one year of relevant experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong written and visual communication skills and experience creating content for digital platforms. Experience with social media management, graphic design, website editing, and photography is preferred.
