Job Description

Podiatric Medical Assistant Location:
Omaha, NE Job Summary The Podiatric Medical Assistant provides clinical and administrative support to podiatrists in diagnosing and treating conditions of the foot, ankle, and lower extremities. This role ensures efficient patient care by assisting with procedures, maintaining accurate records, and preparing treatment areas. Key Responsibilities Prepare patients for examinations by recording medical history, vital signs, and presenting symptoms Assist podiatrists during procedures such as nail care, wound treatment, injections, and minor surgical interventions Clean, sterilize, and maintain instruments and exam rooms in compliance with infection control standards Perform basic clinical tasks such as dressing changes, applying orthotics, and removing sutures (as directed) Educate patients on foot care, treatment plans, and post-procedure instructions Handle administrative duties including appointment scheduling, maintaining electronic health records (EHR), and insurance verification Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure adequate stock levels Required Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent (Medical Assistant certification preferred) Basic knowledge of medical terminology and clinical procedures Strong communication and interpersonal skills Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and professionalism Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills Preferred Skills & Experience Prior experience in a podiatry or specialty medical clinic Familiarity with EHR systems and medical billing Understanding of sterilization techniques and infection control protocols Work Environment Clinical setting such as a podiatry office, hospital, or outpatient care center. May require standing for extended periods and assisting with patient mobility.
