Job Description

Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and energetic Elementary School Psychologist to join our educational team. In this vital role, you will support students' academic, social, emotional, and behavioral development by providing comprehensive psychological services within the school setting. Your expertise will help create a safe, inclusive, and nurturing environment where every child can thrive. You will collaborate closely with teachers, parents, and staff to develop tailored interventions and support plans that promote positive outcomes for students with diverse needs. Duties Any one position may not include all of the listed duties, nor do all of the listed examples include all tasks that may be found in positions within this classification. § Conduct personal psycho-educational evaluations of referred candidates to include psychometric assessments, observation in the regular school situation, social, economic background factors; emotional and behavioral factors; education history, remediation attempts; and psychological adjustment. § Assess student functional capabilities and home and/or classroom environment for the purpose of determining student's functional level and developing recommendations and/or placement. § Prepare timely written reports of the findings with specific recommendations. § Present psycho-educational findings to the Individual Educational Program (IEP) team, describe how the findings relate to the student's functioning in the regular program, and provide subsequent consultation to ensure a successful and appropriate educational placement. § Assist in the development of 504 plans for identified students. § Assist in the development of specific educational objective for areas requiring remediation. § Confer with and obtain or share data with community partners with parental consent. § Re-evaluate students to determine individual progress and to recommend needed educational program changes as specified by State Law, Education Code, and/or District policies. § Process referrals, make recommendations to colleagues, administrators, and parents concerning identified learning needs of students who are not eligible for special education programs. § Conduct ongoing individual counseling and/or group counseling on a variety of topics to facilitate interpersonal success. § Provide individual crisis counseling as needed. § Intervene in occurrences of inappropriate behavior of students for the purpose of assisting students in modifying behavior. § Provide staff development on topics, such as learning and developmental disabilities, mental health awareness, and instructional/behavioral strategies. § Conduct classroom presentation to students on a variety of topics that facilitate positive interpersonal relationships and self-esteem. § Consult with teachers and parents to develop effective instructional and/or behavioral plans. § Provide consultative assistance at a variety of educational meetings such as: Student Success Team (SST) meetings, IEP meetings, and parent conferences for the purpose of providing information. § Facilitate interagency cooperation and collaboration between community partners, the school site/district staff and parents. § Research resources and methods (intervention and treatment techniques. Assessment tools. Community resources, etc.) for the purpose of determining appropriate approach for addressing specific student needs. § Participate in the development and implementation of programs and procedures that enhance learning, self-esteem, and interpersonal relationship; conduct ongoing evaluation of subsequent programs and procedures.
