Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting students from early childhood through high school across nearby schools. These full-time positions span the academic year (August 26, 2026 - June 11, 2027), Monday through Friday, and focus on delivering school psychology services to diverse caseloads. Your expertise will make a difference through conducting re-evaluation reviews, eligibility meetings, functional behavioral assessments, and some initial evaluations. Opportunities are available both in early childhood (0.6 FTE, 3 days per week, traveling between three community preschools, focused on ages 3-5) and elementary grades K-4 (1.0 FTE, 5 days per week). Each role involves active participation in IEP meetings, direct communication with families often new to special education processes, and supporting general and special education teams.
Qualifications:
Current license as a School Psychologist in Illinois is required Experience working in school settings with elementary, middle, and high school populations Strong communication skills to work with families, educational staff, and school partners Knowledge of special education law, best practices in evaluation, and IEP facilitation Ability to engage in multidisciplinary teams and contribute to MTSS and problem-solving meetings For early childhood positions, prior work with preschool-aged children and Early Intervention transitions is a plus
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct assessments and evaluations (initial and re-evaluations) Lead and participate in eligibility and IEP meetings Facilitate problem-solving and data team meetings for MTSS (K-4 role) Serve as a resource for special education law and procedures Communicate clearly and compassionately with families and staff Frequent travel between school sites (early childhood role) Contribute to a collaborative, student-centered environment.
