Job Description

Category Schools - School Psychologist Job Type Contract Step into a dynamic contract role serving students and families as a School Psychologist in an engaging educational environment. This full-time assignment runs from August 26, 2026, through June 11, 2027, with opportunities spanning all grade levels—elementary, middle, and high school. You will play an essential part in supporting learners' growth through evaluation, collaboration, and expert guidance.
Key Qualifications:
Active School Psychologist license in the state of Illinois Deep knowledge of special education law and best practices Strong communication skills with ability to connect with families, educators, and fellow specialists Previous experience conducting evaluations and functional behavioral assessments preferred Adaptability to travel between multiple locations, especially for early childhood assignments
Primary Responsibilities:
Manage a caseload of students for re-evaluation reviews, eligibility meetings, initial evaluations, and functional behavioral assessments Serve as liaison and resource for families, supporting them through the special education process with clarity and empathy For Early Childhood (0.6 FTE): Screen and evaluate children turning three, facilitate transitions from early intervention, and collaborate across three partner preschools For Grades K-4 (1.0 FTE): Conduct student evaluations, facilitate MTSS data team meetings, support IEP process, lead problem-solving initiatives, and attend/facilitate IEP meetings and re-evaluations Collaborate closely with general education and special education teams
