TITLE:

School Psychologist

QUALIFICATIONS

Holds a valid Kentucky certificate for School Psychologist. Holds a Master's Degree in Psychology or Education. Has demonstrated knowledge of Response to Intervention. Has experience in diagnosing, evaluating and counseling. Has demonstrated ability to work and communicate effectively with parents, staff, students, and community.

JOB GOALS

To support the teaching process and maximize learning of all students through the implementation of the district adopted Response to Intervention model. To fulfill federal mandates and state regulations as related to the identification, evaluation, and placement of exceptional children.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES

Stays current on related research literature and new developments within the fields of psychology and counseling. Works collaboratively with RTI teams to place students in intervention programs and helps monitor the effectiveness of those programs, recommending adjustments to increase effectiveness when needed as pertains to the eligibility of Specific Learning Disability. Assists teachers in collection of data for the purpose of data driven decisions about instruction and social/emotional needs. Supports collegiality and team building among staff Identifies and assesses the learning, developmental, and behavioral characteristics of Participates in program Assesses difficulties of referred students through appropriate testing and diagnosing Administers tests and recommends placement for exceptional Maintains case records on all referred Confers with parents and teachers, when Attends conferences on placement of individual students. Interprets the school psychological services to parents and Prepares and submits required reports on children in, or candidates for, special education Cooperates with personnel of community health and social welfare Attends staff, professional, and interagency Assists with in-service training of school personnel. Identifies educational and mental health related needs within the school community and suggests ways in which to meet those. Provide individual and small group psychological and supportive counseling services to children and youth, based upon the identified mental health needs of the student.
