Job Description

Pediatric Psychologist Job Description The Pediatric Psychologist provides psychological assessment, diagnosis, treatment, and consultation services for children, adolescents, and their families within a pediatric healthcare setting. This role collaborates closely with pediatricians, nurse practitioners, behavioral health providers, and other healthcare professionals to support the emotional, behavioral, developmental, and mental health needs of patients. Essential Duties and ResponsibilitiesClinical Services Conduct comprehensive psychological evaluations and assessments for children and adolescents. Diagnose emotional, behavioral, developmental, and mental health disorders using DSM-5 criteria. Provide evidence-based individual, family, and group therapy services. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans. Deliver crisis intervention and risk assessments when necessary. Monitor patient progress and adjust treatment plans accordingly. Integrated Care Collaboration Work collaboratively with pediatric providers to coordinate patient care. Participate in multidisciplinary case reviews and care planning. Provide behavioral health consultation to medical staff regarding patient concerns. Support management of chronic medical conditions by addressing behavioral and psychological factors impacting health outcomes. Family Education and Support Educate parents and caregivers regarding diagnoses, treatment options, and behavioral management strategies. Provide guidance on parenting skills, coping strategies, and family dynamics. Connect families with community resources and support services when appropriate. Documentation and Compliance Maintain timely, accurate, and complete clinical documentation in the electronic medical record (EMR). Ensure compliance with HIPAA, state licensing regulations, and professional ethical standards. Complete treatment plans, progress notes, and required reports within established timelines. Program Development Assist in developing and implementing behavioral health programs within the pediatric practice. Participate in quality improvement initiatives. Support community outreach and educational activities as requested. QualificationsEducation Doctoral degree (Ph.D. or Psy.

D.) in Clinical Psychology, Counseling Psychology, or related field from an accredited institution. Licensure Current unrestricted license as a Psychologist in the state of practice. Credentialing and payer enrollment eligibility required. Experience Minimum of 2 years of experience working with children and adolescents preferred. Experience in pediatric, integrated healthcare, or outpatient behavioral health settings preferred. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Strong knowledge of child development, behavioral health, and evidence-based treatment modalities. Experience conducting psychological assessments and diagnostic evaluations. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary healthcare team. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficiency with electronic health records (EHR/EMR) systems. Physical Requirements Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and staff. Ability to operate standard office and computer equipment. Work Environment Outpatient pediatric clinic setting. Regular interaction with children, adolescents, families, and healthcare professionals. May occasionally participate in community outreach or school-based activities.
