Behavior Consultant
REPORTS TO
Director of Special Education
WORK SCHEDULE
: Five (5) days per week as per the local school districts' schedule and calendar.
SALARY RANGE
According to the Terms of the Master Agreement with
AFT STARTING DATE
2026-2027 School Year (August 2026)
JOB SUMMARY
Provide consultative behavioral services that support positive student outcomes. Offer referrals to students and families, participate in IEP development, and advise special and general education staff across Clare-Gladwin
RESD. PRIMARY FUNCTIONS
Provide behavioral consultation and support for students with significant behavioral needs. Conduct and/or support Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBAs) and develop Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs) and safety plans. Deliver job-embedded coaching and professional development to teachers and paraprofessionals. Support crisis prevention, de-escalation, and post-incident review using district-approved models (e.g., CPI/UKERU). Ensure compliance with state law and district policy related to seclusion and restraint. Participate in IEP meetings and contribute to behavior-related goals and services. Develop data collection systems; analyze and use data to guide interventions. Collaborate with general and special education staff across districts. Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies. Travel regionally; occasional statewide travel for training or conferences.
QUALIFICATIONS
Master's degree in Special Education, School Psychology, School Social Work, Applied Behavior Analysis, or related field Three (3) to Five (5) years of experience working with students in special education. Experience with FBAs, BIPs, Positive Behavioral Supports, and staff consultation preferred. Knowledge of evidence-based behavioral and social-emotional practices.
CPI/UKERU
trainer certification preferred. Meets Michigan Administrative Rules for Special Education. Michigan certification as a School Psychologist or School Social Worker preferred. Strong communication, collaboration, and data-analysis skills.
