Job Description

Posting Details The New Mexico Behavioral Health Institute provides care to New Mexicans across six different divisions including hospital level inpatient psychiatric care for both civil and forensic commitments, residential treatment for adolescents, outpatient care for people with behavioral health disorders, detox and residential substance use treatment, and skilled/long-term care. As the largest behavioral health complex in the state, inpatient/residential care is provided to over 250 New Mexicans every day, along with 400 outpatient clients a month. There are over 600 employees across the divisions of NMBHI to ensure high-quality treatment and care is delivered. Why does the job exist? Incumbent will evaluate patients utilizing psychological assessment tools for determining proper diagnosis, treatment needs and recommendations, need for hospitalization, response to treatment, and prognosis. Incumbent will be responsible for providing direct psychological services in the Adult Psychiatric Services Division. How does it get done? Incumbent will evaluate patients utilizing psychological assessment tools for determining proper diagnosis, treatment needs and recommendations, need for hospitalization, response to treatment, and prognosis. Who are the customers? Patients/Residents/ Clients Ideal Candidate Patients/Residents/ Clients Minimum Qualification Licensed by the New Mexico Board of Psychologist Examiners and three (3) years of experience as it pertains to the essential duties and responsibilities of the classification. Any combination of education from an accredited college or university in a related field above licensure requirements and/or direct experience in this occupation totaling three (3) years may substitute for the required experience. Employment Requirements Must possess a valid Drivers License Must obtain a Defensive Driving Certificate 1.

Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA). Working Conditions Position will perform work primarily in an office setting with extensive computer and phone usage and exposure to Video/Visual Display Terminal.
