  • Part-time Overview Webb Institute seeks a Psychologist/Therapist to oversee multiple support groups with college-aged students and to provide other therapeutic services.
The clientele comprises 100 students who live and study in a unique, collaborative environment. About Webb Webb Institute is a top-ranked undergraduate engineering institution offering a dual Bachelor of Science degree in Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering. Every student receives a full-tuition scholarship and Webb meets full demonstrated need for other costs. The unique program provides 100% placement for graduates supported by direct industry contact through annual internships in shipyards, on ships and in design, engineering, or maritime companies. Graduates also choose to pursue graduate education or transition to numerous non-maritime fields. Webb is located on a beautiful 26-acre waterfront campus overlooking Long Island Sound in Glen Cove, New York. Principal Responsibilities
  • Lead 8 weekly hour-long Group Therapy sessions.
  • Introduce Freshman to the Group Therapy Program each fall semester.
  • Perform short-term individual therapy as needed.
  • Provide appropriate referrals to those students who need longer term care.
  • Be available for crisis intervention as needed.
  • Serve as a member of the Assessment and Care Team and meet weekly to discuss problematic student mental health issues that are affecting their academic performance.
  • Manage your schedule of client appointments and group sessions.
  • No billing responsibilities as these services are complimentary to the students.
  • Document client interactions, group attendance, and maintain confidential records Qualifications
  • Doctorate or master's degree in psychology, Counseling, or Social Work.
  • New York State licensure in your profession.
  • Minimum of 2 years of clinical experience
  • experience with college aged students preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong diagnostic skills and the ability to explain diagnoses to non-mental health staff members.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and confidentiality protocols.
  • Ability to work independently, organize your schedule, and keep immaculate records.
  • Strong ethical standards and professional integrity.
  • Commitment to continuing education and professional development.
  • Knowledge of local mental health resources and networks.
Position Type and Expected Hours The Psychologist/Therapist position is a part-time position, paid hourly, with a range of 10 to 20 working hours per week. Activities are conducted in the late afternoon/early evening hours, and are currently performed Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday. Occasionally, you may be called upon for crisis intervention requiring additional work hours which are compensated at a higher rate. The position is active when students are on campus with a fall semester from mid-August to late December and a spring semester from March to late June. Compensation Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
