WORK ACTIVITIES
Provide regular counseling to students in need of social and emotional support in an educational setting; this includes both mandated counseling to students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as well as individual and group counseling to other students as needed. Act as liaison between community-based organizations, students and their families, and the BOCES Create programs for students to promote emotional and mental health Respond to day-to-day issues and unanticipated student crises during the school day Facilitate the completion of functional behavioral assessments (fba) and behavior intervention plans (bip)
REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge of the instructional and social needs of students at risk and students with disabilities Ability to design and implement in-school prevention programming according to current best practices Ability to simultaneously manage a regular counseling schedule and triage crises Ability to prioritize multiple competing urgent tasks Ideal candidates will have strong interpersonal skills, expertise in behavioral modification, crisis intervention, de-escalation, and special education.
