Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) / Residential Psychologist•OPWDD (Direct Hire)
Location:
Pleasant Valley, NY (Hudson Valley)

Direct Hire Schedule:
Monday-Friday | 8:30 AM•5:00 PM (Some flexibility for evenings/weekends as needed)
Salary:
$55,000•$72,000 annually, based on experience
Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled Behavior Intervention Specialist (BIS) / Residential Psychologist to support individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) and autism in a residential setting. This role focuses on behavioral assessment, intervention planning, and staff training in compliance with OPWDD standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a clinician with strong behavioral health experience who is passionate about improving quality of life through person-centered care and evidence-based practices.
Behavior Intervention Specialist Responsibilities:
Conduct Functional Behavioral Assessments (FBA), risk assessments, and capacity evaluations Develop and implement Behavior Support Plans, Treatment Plans, and Medication Monitoring Plans Analyze behavioral data and modify interventions as needed Train direct support staff on behavior plans, intervention strategies, and best practices Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings, family meetings, and clinical case reviews Provide direct observation and support during crisis situations when needed Ensure compliance with OPWDD regulations and documentation standards Support ongoing program development and continuous improvement initiatives
Qualifications & Skills:
Must meet OPWDD Level 2 BIS requirements (Part 633.16) Master's degree in Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Social Work, Counseling, or related field required BCBA certification preferred Experience supporting individuals with I/DD and/or autism, preferably in a residential or OPWDD setting Strong knowledge of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and behavioral intervention strategies Experience conducting functional assessments and developing behavior support plans Ability to analyze behavioral data and adjust interventions appropriately Excellent communication skills with the ability to train and support staff Strong organizational skills and attention to detail Ability to work independently while collaborating with interdisciplinary teams Familiarity with SCIP-R, Ukeru, or similar crisis intervention techniques preferred Valid driver's license required
