Responsibilities Conduct thorough mental health assessments and diagnostic evaluations utilizing clinical documentation standards and medical terminology. Engage in crisis intervention and crisis management to support patients experiencing acute mental health episodes or behavioral emergencies. Develop, implement, and monitor personalized treatment plans aligned with clinical confidentiality policies and HIPAA regulations. Document all patient interactions accurately within electronic medical records (EMR/EHR systems), ensuring compliance with medical records standards and CPT coding procedures. Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams—including psychiatrists, case managers, educators, and community providers—to coordinate comprehensive care for individuals with developmental disabilities, autism spectrum disorder (ASD), PTSD, substance use disorders, or geriatrics. Collect data for clinical research initiatives related to mental health interventions and behavioral health outcomes while maintaining strict adherence to clinical research protocols. Skills Proven expertise in psychotherapy techniques including cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), psychodynamic therapy, motivational interviewing, behavioral therapy, and addiction counseling. Experience working with children, adolescents, individuals with autism or developmental disabilities, and diverse cultural backgrounds. Strong knowledge of medical terminology, ICD coding (ICD-9/10), CPT coding, and familiarity with EMR/EHR systems. Ability to perform comprehensive mental health assessments and psychiatric patient care in hospital or community settings. Skilled in crisis management, trauma-informed care (including PTSD care), and working with individuals experiencing substance use disorders or behavioral health crises. Competence in case management, client communication, intake procedures, and documentation standards aligned with HIPAA regulations. Experience conducting research activities such as data collection and analysis within clinical settings is a plus. Knowledge of special education practices related to behavioral interventions for children with disabilities or autism spectrum disorder.
