Job Summary To diagnose, evaluate and treat mental and emotional disorders. Responsibilities
  • Interview and counsel patients or students in clinics and review medical and social case histories.
Diagnose mental and emotional disorders and assist in the administration of treatment programs. Observe patients or students in play and other situations and select, administer and interpret intelligence, achievement, interest, personality and other psychological tests to diagnose disorders as well as cognitive strengths and weaknesses. Treat psychological disorders to effect improved adjustments, utilizing various psychological techniques. Select approach to use in individual therapy and plan frequency, intensity and duration of therapy. Collaborate with psychiatrists, clinical psychologists-PhD level, and other specialists in developing patient or student treatment programs. Instruct and direct psychology students. Develop experimental designs and conduct research in fields of personality development and adjustment, diagnosis, treatment and prevention of mental illness and remediation of cognitive and adjustment disorders including outcome following rehabilitation. Serve as consultant to educational, social, welfare and other agencies on individual cases or in the evaluation, planning and development of mental health programs. Prepare diagnosis and status reports on individuals interviewed Develop and implement behavioral plans Educate and support families in promoting the patient?s mental health and adjustment to disability. Process patient care referrals using the electronic ordering system may be required in certain areas. Complete case management functions, including insurance verification. Assess family systems and provide family counseling services. Perform other related duties as assigned Required Qualifications
  • Master's degree in educational or clinical psychology. Eligibility for limited licensure as a Clinical Psychologist in the state of Michigan Desired Qualifications
