What we want The Psychologist I provides competent mental health psychotherapy and outreach to individuals, families, and groups. This position is tasked to primarily, but not exclusively, the Texas Child Mental Health Care Consortium programs (TCMHCC), such as Texas Child Health Access Through Telehealth (TCHATT) and other related consortium programs.
Required Education and Experience:
Doctorate in Counseling Psychology, Clinical Psychology, School Psychology, or other degree acceptable to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists (TSBEP). One year full-time supervised internship in college or university counseling center or other relevant setting, pre-doctoral internship preferably APA accredited.
Required Licenses and Certifications:
Eligible for licensure in the State of Texas as a Licensed Psychologist. Become licensed in Texas as a Psychologist within one year from date of employment. Must maintain licensure for continued employment.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Knowledge of clinical competency in multicultural counseling. Adherence to the Ethical Principles and Code of Conduct for the relevant Texas State Licensing Board and all relevant laws of the state of Texas. Ability to conduct clinical services in fluent Spanish Responsibilities Clinical Psychotherapy and Crisis Intervention Provides mental health clinical services to individuals, families, and groups. Meets ethical obligations for timely documentation of psychotherapy services per State of Texas licensure requirements and Texas A&M Health policies. Engages in behavioral health activities, including psychotherapy, administering and interpreting psychological tests/inventories, making referrals, and managing various organizational and administrative aspects of psychotherapy cases. Provides telehealth psychotherapy and consultation services. Provides consultation to faculty, staff, students, and parents. Professional Development, Training, and Supervision Participates in continuing education and professional development activities related to the performance of job functions and maintenance of skills in one's professional specialty area. Seeks consultation from peers and leadership for difficult clinical cases per State of Texas licensure requirements. Until fully licensed, participates in weekly supervision with Licensed Psychologist, including review of recorded sessions and case review. May provide supervision for Master/Doctoral level students in Psychotherapy and Counseling Psychology, and adjunct supervision for Doctoral interns. Outreach and Collaboration Coordinates and delivers outreach and education presentations for students, faculty, and staff members about TCMHCC program services and professional development topics. Collaborates with other department staff to enhance the experience of students, patients, faculty, and staff. Serves on departmental committees and meetings, division and university committees, and other university functions as requested. Research and Evaluation Engages in applied research, quality management, utilization management, and internal evaluation activities. Publishes and/or disseminates the results of research and evaluation efforts. Assists with organizational and administrative tasks, as requested. Why Texas A&M University?
