This Radiation Therapist opportunity is based in a welcoming cancer center in south-central Massachusetts, in a community that offers the best of small-town New England life with easy access to larger urban amenities. As a Radiation Therapist here, you will work side-by-side with radiation oncologists, medical oncologists, nurses, dosimetrists, physicists, and support staff who value collaboration, open communication, and mutual respect. In this role, you will be responsible for delivering safe, accurate, and timely radiation treatments according to physician prescriptions and treatment plans. Your typical day will include reviewing daily schedules and treatment orders, preparing treatment rooms and equipment, verifying patient identity and set-up, and delivering external beam radiation therapy using linear accelerators and image-guided techniques. You will perform daily quality checks related to patient positioning and equipment function, and promptly report any concerns to physics and medical staff. Patient care is at the heart of this position. You will help guide patients through their treatment course by explaining procedures, answering questions, and providing reassurance and support. You will monitor patients for changes in condition and treatment tolerance and communicate observations to the care team. Documentation in the electronic medical record and oncology information system is a key part of your responsibilities, ensuring that treatments are recorded accurately and that care is coordinated efficiently. The cancer center cares primarily for adult patients with a wide variety of malignancies, including common disease sites such as breast, prostate, lung, and head and neck cancers. Depending on experience and interest, there may be opportunities to work with advanced treatment techniques such as IMRT and IGRT. The patient volume is structured to allow you to focus on both technical precision and personalized attention, with patient-centered scheduling that promotes safety and quality. Shifts are generally daytime, weekday hours aligned with outpatient cancer center operations, allowing for a balanced schedule and predictable routine. Occasional flexibility may be requested to support patient needs, equipment maintenance schedules, or special procedures. You will be supported by an experienced leadership group that encourages continuing education, professional growth, and participation in quality improvement activities. ARIA PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS
One or more years of experience as a staff Radiation Therapist in a hospital or freestanding cancer center Experience working in a community-based cancer center with a diverse adult patient population Previous use of common treatment planning and oncology information systems such as Eclipse, ARIA, or equivalent platforms Experience with image-guided radiation therapy (IGRT), intensity-modulated radiation therapy (IMRT), and 3D conformal techniques Comfort with treating patients across a wide range of disease sites, including breast, prostate, lung, and head and neck Experience participating in quality assurance programs, machine QA, and process improvement initiatives Background working within a multidisciplinary oncology team, including medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, surgeons, nurses, and dosimetrists Ability to provide patient education and support regarding treatment expectations, side effect management, and follow-up care Interest in ongoing professional development and staying current with advances in radiation therapy technology and techniques
