Job Description

Overview Be a part of our GROWING Radiation Therapy team as we continue to expand our PROTON clinic! There are so many great reasons to work at Huntsman Cancer Institute at U of U Health! Hiring for a full time mid to evening Proton shift (anticipated 12pm-8:30pm). Great evening incentive pay offered. Apply today! Located in beautiful Salt Lake City and set against the backdrop of the snow-covered Wasatch Mountains, we are located within minutes of 7 world-class ski resorts. Experience 4 seasons, hiking, biking, and several National Parks. The Radiation Oncology department has a tradition of academic and clinical excellence and occupies a spacious 30,000 square feet on the ground floor of the beautiful Huntsman Cancer Hospital on the University of Utah Salt Lake campus. This mid to evening shift allows flexibilty to do a morning hike or hit the slopes before work. Daily Bonus for Proton evening shift work In addition to hourly pay: extra flat pay of $75 if working beyond 7pm and an additional flat pay of $100 if working past 8pm. Shift Differential In addition to hourly pay: $3.50 per hour if at least 4 hours are worked after 3pm. An employee must be clocked in at least six hours consecutively and have worked at least four hours in the differential time zone (3pm - 11:59pm) to qualify. Only actual worked hours in the specific time zone will be eligible. $4,000 SIGN

The program provides a signing bonus for newly hired external candidates at a 0.50 FTE or greater. Ask your recruiter about relocation assistance too! The successful candidate will possess strong clinical skills and a passion for delivering high quality, state of the art treatments while being supported with a team of 14 faculty Radiation oncologists, 15 Nurses, 11 Dosimetrists & 14 Medical Physicists along with over 30 Radiation Therapists. 1 year or more of Radiation Therapy experience preferred. Competitive Salary We are thrilled to share the entry rate for this position is $48.63/hr.

EO/AA Responsibilities Performs radiation therapy treatments. Explains treatment procedures to patients. Prepares the treatment room and equipment, transfers patients to treatment area, and positions patients for treatment. Checks daily treatment parameters; delivers the prescribed dosage; and maintains treatment records in the patient's electronic medical chart. Performs weekly checks of the patient's electronic chart for completeness and accuracy. Photographs patients in the treatment position and observes patients for unusual skin reactions and side effects of treatment. Performs tumor localization using image guidance modalities. Maintains supplies and custom treat devices in the treatment room. Schedules patients for treatment on treatment machines. Performs daily quality and safety checks of the Linear Accelerator and other treatment equipment. Teaches clinical intern students. Performs service recovery as needed.
Knowledge / Skills
/ Abilities Ability to perform the essential functions of the job as outlined above. Demonstrated human relation and effective communication skills. Ability to perform verification checks and apply quality assurance procedures to ensure accuracy of dose calculations. Demonstrated knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served on his or her assigned unit. Demonstrated knowledge of the principles of life-span growth and development and the ability to assess data regarding the patient's status and provide care as described in the department's policies and procedures manual. Ability to follow department policies, procedures and checklists to ensure safe, accurate treatments. Ability to bill correctly for procedures performed. Ability to review and understand a treatment plan to accurately treat patients. Qualifications Qualifications Licenses Required Current RQI Healthcare Provider eCredential through the University of Utah Health RQI system. The eCredential is to be obtained within 30 days of hire. Current licensure to practice as a Radiologic Technologist in the State of Utah. Credentialed in Radiation Therapy Technology by the American Registry of Radiology (ARRT). • Additional license requirements as determined by the hiring department.
