1 Description American Traveler is seeking a Radiation Therapist for a 13-week travel contract at a hospital-based radiation oncology department in Virginia, requiring an active VA license and a minimum of 1 year of experience. Details Hospital-based Radiation Oncology department serving adult acute care and adult outpatient populations Treatment modalities include IMRT, Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), Respiratory Gating, Electron Beam Therapy, and CT Simulation Patient cases include prostate cancer with seeds/fiducials, benign brain tumors, craniospinal, gynecomastia, heterotopic bone, keloids, prophylactic treatments, superior vena cava, Hodgkin's and non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, and testicular cancer Uses Varian TrueBeam LINAC and ARIA treatment management system Treatment planning performed using Eclipse (Varian) Epic EMR used; experience preferred and must be disclosed at time of submission Day shift, 5x8-hour schedule, 7:00 AM
  • 3:30 PM Floating may be required in rotation with facility staff per Joint Commission standards On-call is not required for this department Requirements Active Virginia (VA) or Compact Radiation Therapist license required — license must be active and in hand at time of consideration ARRT (R) and ARRT (T) certifications preferred; CMD certification required Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Radiation Therapist Experience with CBCT/kV/mV imaging, custom molds, custom shields, wedges, block cutting, and tumor localization Epic EMR experience required; number of months of Epic experience within the past year must be disclosed First-time travelers are eligible to apply PDF copies of driver's license and Social Security card required for consideration COVID vaccination or approved exemption required Flu vaccine required during flu season (Oct 1•Mar 31) or approved exemption required Additional Information Administer radiation therapy treatments using advanced modalities including SRS, IMRT, respiratory gating, and electron beam therapy Perform pretreatment duties including CT simulation, tumor localization, and custom device fabrication All travelers must attend an Epic orientation class (accelerated or 2-day); travelers returning within 6 months of a prior assignment at this facility may be exempt Up to 7 hours of non-clinical orientation modules are required and completed during the onboarding period Holiday coverage is expected; travelers should plan to work some holidays during the assignment RTO must be submitted at time of initial consideration — no RTO will be approved after an offer is extended, and any approved RTO must also appear in the confirmation document; calendar-week-off requests are strongly discouraged Previous employees of this facility must wait one year before returning as a traveler This is a smoke•and nicotine-free facility Local candidates are accepted
