Mount Comfort Veterinary Care is a Fear Free Certified Practice (the only one in Arkansas) small animal clinic dedicated to compassionate, high-quality veterinary care. Job Overview:
We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Experienced Veterinary Technician or Assistant to support our veterinarians and nurses in providing exceptional care. The ideal candidate has a minimum of 2 years of hands-on experience in a veterinary hospital, strong technical skills, surgical assisting experience is a plus, and a deep commitment to patient care. This role is ideal for someone who values teamwork, efficiency, attention to detail, and creating a calm, positive experience for every patient.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist veterinarians during exams while prioritizing patient comfort, safety, and low-stress handling. Safely restrain animals using Fear Free and gentle handling techniques. Place IV catheters and collect blood samples using proper handling techniques. Monitor and record vital signs, medical history, and treatment plans accurately. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed. Operate in-house diagnostic equipment, including Idexx X-rays and laboratory machines. Educate pet owners on proper pet care, preventative health, and reducing stress during veterinary visits.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a veterinary hospital providing direct patient care. Strong knowledge of veterinary terminology, animal anatomy, and basic medical procedures. Proficiency in animal handling, catheter placement, and radiology techniques. Experience assisting in surgical and dental prophy procedures is a plus but not required. Ability to work efficiently under pressure while maintaining accuracy, compassion, and patience. Strong communication skills for effective teamwork and client education. Must be able to safely lift and handle animals. Appreciation for low-stress handling and patient-centered care. Willingness to become Fear Free Certified (clinic-sponsored certification available).
