Mercy is seeking a skilled MRI Technologist to join our Healthcare & Medical Services team. In this role, you will perform high-quality MRI exams, ensure patient safety and comfort, and collaborate closely with radiologists and clinical staff to support accurate diagnoses. You will maintain imaging equipment, follow established protocols, and provide clear patient instructions and compassionate care. Responsibilities Perform high-quality MRI examinations according to physician orders and established protocols Verify patient identity, review clinical history, and explain MRI procedures to ensure informed consent and comfort Screen patients and accompanying individuals for MRI safety, including implants, devices, and contraindications Position patients accurately and safely on the MRI table, using immobilization devices as needed to obtain optimal images Operate MRI scanners, coils, and related equipment, selecting appropriate technical factors and protocols for each study Administer IV contrast agents as required, following department policies and monitoring patients for adverse reactions Continuously monitor patients during scans, responding promptly to discomfort, anxiety, or changes in condition Evaluate images for diagnostic quality, repeating or supplementing sequences when necessary to meet radiologist expectations Accurately document procedures, contrast use, and patient information in the electronic medical record and imaging systems Collaborate closely with radiologists, nurses, and referring providers to clarify exam requests and support timely patient care Maintain a safe MRI environment, strictly adhering to MRI safety zones, screening processes, and emergency procedures Clean and maintain MRI equipment and work areas, reporting malfunctions and coordinating service when needed Support a culture of compassion, respect, and diversity by providing empathetic, patient-centered care to individuals of all backgrounds Participate in ongoing education, training, and quality improvement initiatives to enhance imaging quality and patient outcomes at Mercy Required Skills MRI equipment operation Cross-sectional anatomy and physiology Patient positioning and immobilization IV insertion and contrast administration MRI safety and screening protocols Radiation safety and infection control Electronic medical record (EMR) documentation Image quality assessment and troubleshooting Communication with patients and clinical teams Emergency response and patient monitoring Time management in a clinical setting Basic computer and PACS use
